disruptive philosophical thought AND HEART-BASED storytelling for the human soul — in the age of digital nuance.

CREATED BY DEV.

I’m here if you wanna talk.

I’m Dev, and the answer is yes: writing helps me see the world clearly.

And this world is a place that tends to be unclear. Foggy. Diluted. Unwell. Strange even; amongst other things.

So my job is to write. Everyday. About the things I just mentioned. Or about spaceships. Or about The South. Or about my bizarre affinity for semi colons.

And here’s where I house some of the best parts (I’ll spare you the rest). Poke around at your own risk.

Because there are few things that I love more than writing, I decided to learn how to get paid for it. So I became a copywriter. It’s (mostly) paid the bills for nearly a decade now. I’ve written everything from 15-character headlines that lived on billboards found along the Las Vegas strip to 5,000-word white papers about the most boring, esoteric topics known to man. You hiring?

When I earned a few of my stripes after mastering the art of writing across diverse industry verticals, and after I had explored the full gamut of what it truly means to write in the advertising world, I expanded my skill-set into strategy + creative direction + content design through the lens of building a brand from the ground up.

strategy

Editing. That thing that brings magic to the writing experience. Over the years I’ve accidentally developed an eagle eye for details that I sometimes feel quite proud of.

Need a book? I can write it for you. Or any other piece of long-form marketing collateral (i.e. eBooks, white papers, case studies, etc.). Whatever the case, it’s your world and I just write in it.

I live for a good story. In any form. As a writer, there’s a super sweet moment when you finally land the greatest hook of all time, but you’re not quite sure if it’ll hold up long enough to round off the plot. In essence, I believe all of the above-mentioned skills are truly rooted in the premise of this one particular discipline. And, to tell you the truth: where I come from, as I live out most of my days in a great big land of erasure, stories are all we really have to pass on down.

So pardon me while I explore further into other horizons: orating, songwriting, poetry, music production, screenwriting, teaching, long-form narrative-based editorial, essays, film… should I maybe do it all? Yes? Good call.
